BWCCI makes commitment in CGI Annual Meeting

cgiFounder President of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) Ms. Selima Ahmad joined in the Eighth Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) held in New York city, USA from September 23-25, 2012. The meeting emphasizing action through Social Investment, Empowering Girls and Women, and Designing for Impact was opened by USA’s former President Bill Clinton. Among others, Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States of America, Mitt Romney, former Governor of Commonwealth of Massachusetts, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim joined in the CGI annual meeting.

During the Ms. Ahmad expressed her solidarity with the unprecedented global effort on behalf of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI). She committed to developing women entrepreneurs of Bangladesh beyond micro enterprises and that; BWCCI will turn 5000 women entrepreneurs to SMEs in next 5 years.

Over three days, an array of heads of state, CEOs, non-profit leaders, and other global luminaries made over 150 new commitments, expected to impact nearly 22 million lives.

Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. To date CGI members have made nearly 2,300 commitments, which have already improved the lives of more than 400 million people in more than 180 countries. When fully funded and implemented, these commitments will be valued at $73.1 billion.
